"When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying: "Blessed are..." - Matthew 5:1-12.

Two of the most powerful and poetic lessons for life appear in the scripture readings this Sunday. The definition of beatitude is “supreme blessedness and happiness.” In our search for happiness among the “stuff” of life, we often miss the gifts right in front of us. What difference would it make to embody a love for justice and kindness in our everyday lives? How would it be if our focus became blessing others? How would the world change?
