On Friday, March 13, LVUC volunteers Kelly, Vicky, Marilyn, and Myrna helped raise awareness within the community and celebrated PIE Day by doling out delicious slices of apple strudel to spread the word about the meaning and significance of the occasion. They reported that pie was handed out to happy children and their parents from Lynn Valley Elementary and Argyle Secondary School, as well as many passersby. The volunteers valued their interactions with the pie recipients, and were pleased to get a very positive reception from them when they explained what Pie Day was and its significance in supporting LGBTQ rights and issues in the United Church of Canada. Some pie recipients they spoke with discussed the common perception that some churches don't support the LGBTQ community, but that they were happy to have it affirmed that LVUC does and that it is a safe place for anyone who comes through its doors.

Thank you again to our dedicated volunteers for representing LVUC with such tasty treats and an inclusive and welcoming attitude for all!
