LVUC congregant Kathy Alexander has requested that our church community be informed of the passing of her husband, Pat Alexander. Please join us in praying for Kathy and her family during this difficult time.
It is with great sadness, and even greater gratitude for the life he lived, that we say goodbye to Pat Alexander—a loving husband, dad, grandpa, entrepreneur, adventurer. volunteer and eternal optimist.
Pat was born on a farm in Olds, Alberta, to Joyce and Robert Alexander, alongside his brother, Sandy.
Pat was an entrepreneur at heart, his ventures took him from Calgary to Toronto, Martinique and eventually, Vancouver, where he founded Long Life Windows & Doors in 1989. His son, Kris, took over the business in 2010, allowing him a much deserved retirement. He was incredibly proud of the company he started, and the people and family behind it.
Above all, Pat loved his family. He shared his life with his amazing wife, Kathy, and was a loving and proud father to Kris, Katie and Tracey. He adored being Grandpa to Lottie, Liam, Bo, Teo and Tarran, and was so excited to meet another granddaughter, due this January.
Pat was the dad who showed up; at soccer games, Beaver camps, music concerts, and everything in between. That same love and enthusiasm carried into being a grandpa.
Pat was first diagnosed with multiple myeloma back in 2010, in which he faced with his incredible will and an unwaveringly positive outlook on life. He believed in focusing on what he could control, and accepting what he could not; a philosophy he lived right to the end.
We will miss his stories, his laugh, his advice and simply knowing he was there.
While saying goodbye feels impossibly hard, Pat would want us to spend far more time celebrating the life he lived than mourning that it ended.
He gave us so very much to celebrate.
