With the conclusion of our stewardship campaign last week and the Advent season soon upon us, we are heartened to see that our congregants remain committed to supporting their church and bettering the lives of those who are in much greater need than many of us.
In recent weeks, you have responded with heart-warming generosity to our appeals for support for two community organizations. We asked for financial contributions to the Harvest Project's Gifts of Love campaign to provide eight families with presents and gift cards to enable them to experience a little more joy at Christmas. According to the Harvest Project's team, most or all of these recipient families will feel like they have won the lottery when they see the contents of their hampers! Your support of this project raised almost $2,300 and we are so proud and grateful for all who donated.
In addition, the Seekers have collected new pajamas for women supported by the North Shore Crisis Services Society and Sage House (their transitional housing facility), as they have for many years. We are pleased to report that our congregation donated 35 sets of pajamas, that will provide comfort over the holiday season for women experiencing challenging circumstances.
Finally, as a result of the Stewardship Campaign that we held over the past three weeks, we can report that, based on the estimate cards received, we will collectively increase our support for local operations by 7% and our Mission and Service contributions by more than 25%!
As your Finance Team, and on behalf of the Board, staff and all our members, we are extremely grateful for your continued support and the generosity of spirit expressed by these results. Thank you for your financial contributions towards our operations and for those projects that extend our impact among our neighbours.
