On the night of February 28, LVUC's Lynn Valley Amblers joined 40,000 walkers across Canada in the Coldest Night of the Year event. They enjoyed a pleasant (but chilly) walk on a beautiful night with about 300 other participants, walking past the currently-under-construction First United building on Vancouver's Downtown Eastside (completion expected in June of this year). The team was in good spirits and shared both enthusiasm and a delicous chili dinner.

The Lynn Valley Amblers have raised a total of $4,505 (so far) in support of First United Community Ministry Society. Dignity, belonging, and justice are the values that underlie the many services they provide within the community in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. We can feel proud of their contribution to the work of this great organization.

The Lynn Valley Amblers team was ranked as #11 among a total of 35 teams raising money for First United, which had its best year ever, raising over $152,000 (so far). The team consisted of Kathy, Kelly, Jeanne, Dieuke, Marni, Donovan, William and Henry (Donovan’s friends), Joe, Veronica, and Judith. Donations came from 55 sponsors, including 18 from the congregation.
