BOOK STUDY: The Inconvenient Indian by Thomas King
Starting Tuesday, January 29, 2019
The Inconvenient Indian: a curious account of native people in North America by Thomas King
"...Every Canadian should read Thomas King's book. Every high school English and History teacher should teach it. It's funny, it's readable, and it makes you think. If you have any kind of a social conscience, The Inconvenient Indian will also make you angry." (Laura Egerston of the Toronto Star)
Despite the humour, it's a work that argues "when we look at Native-non-Native relations, there is no great difference between the past and the present."
Blair led a four week study of King's novel, every second Tuesday, beginning January 29. And now, even though the book study has ended, you are encouraged to read this book and learn the stories that you were not taught in school.
The book is available in hardback, paperback and kindle and on Amazon.
