We, the United Church of Canada have committed to becoming an anti-racist denomination. Another way of saying this is that we are committed to developing healthy relationships with individuals and communities, especially those experiencing marginalization because this was a focus of Jesus’ redemptive work.
As we reflect on the history of slavery, especially for black people, our worship experience this week will be in the form of a vignette, song, prayers, and fellowship. This form of worshipping will leave an unforgettable memory of the gifts, beauty, joy, courage, and strength of Black people in Canada.
We look forward to seeing you as we lift our voices in songs and support for our brothers and sisters globally to celebrate this month.
