In another metaphorical dialogue with his audience in John 6:48-58, Jesus teaches that whoever eats the flesh and drinks his blood will have eternal life now and will be raised up on the last day. This uncanny instruction sends the audience debating and disputing what Jesus means. This same debate is happening today; over two thousand years later anywhere this text is heard.
