Advent Reversal

The celebrations continue. The anxious rhythmic dance to get things done; wrapped the final gift, writing that last ecard, doing the final shopping and planning that next event or dinner party. However, when the dust of all those things settled, what is next? The story in Luke 1 gives us a peek into what can be the next thing to do using Mary as a model.

§  Mary speaks of God’s actions.

§  She speaks in gratitude.

§  And she speaks of justice.

The story in Luke one also reminds us that our faith is concerned at the ultimate level with the reversal of the systems of oppression. This is the reason for Jesus coming and his message. This message of reversal is also what we are to preach, celebrate, and for which we hope in Advent.
