Lynn Valley United Church regularly discusses our partnership with First United and the work we help them to accomplish in the community. As you may have heard, the Social Justice Team will be asking the congregation to approve a donation from our Legacy Fund for the First Forward Capital Campaign for the new building, and you may be wondering what that building has to do with LVUC, why this donation is a worthwhile use of our Legacy Fund, and how our work towards reconciliation figures into this donation.

To help answer any questions you might have, we have invited Reverend Cari Copeman-Haynes, Lead Minister at Crossroads United, to preach at LVUC this Sunday. Then, after the service, Amanda Burrows, Executive Director of First United, will tell us more about what is happening at First and the progress of the building project. Amanda will also be available for a special Q&A session.

If you recognize Cari’s smile, it may be because she is the daughter of our beloved Reverend Sharon Copeman, Minister at Lynn Valley United from 1994 to 2007. Reverend Cari is an important figure in the life of the United Church in BC. For more information on Reverend Cari, please click here.

We hope you'll join us this Sunday to help welcome our special guests and learn more about First United, its capital campaign, and how LVUC will be assisting the campaign through our donation!
