 ional Indigenous Peoples Day with a trip up the gorgeous Sea to Sky Highwa
 y! Lynn Valley United Church is partnering with Highlands United Church to
  visit the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre in Whistler along with a stop 
 in Squamish for bannock and to pick up Tsawaysia\, our cultural ambassador
 . At the Cultural Centre\, there will be a guided tour as well as time for
  independent viewing\, concluding with a group lunch at The Old Spaghetti 
 Factory. The cost of the trip ($135 per person) includes transportation\, 
 morning snack\, entrance fee\, and lunch (taxes and gratuities included).\
 nNational Indigenous Peoples Day is on June 21st\, the summer solstice. It
  was first observed in Canada in 1996. It is a day for all Canadians to le
 arn about\, recognize and honour the invaluable contributions and unique h
 eritage of First Nations\, Inuit\, and Metis peoples.\nTsawaysia Spukwas (
 also known by English name Alice Guss (nee Harry) is a Squamish Nation mem
 ber\, born and raised in Squamish BC. She is known to LVUC because of a dr
 um-making workshop that she did with us.. She is a cultural ambassador who
  participates in all aspects of First Nations culture\, language\, communi
 ty\, governance\, education\, traditional art forms\, healing\, recreation
 \, singing\, and drumming. She will be our story teller as we travel. \nT
 he Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre (SLCC)is a celebration of two nations 
 that have coexisted respectfully as neighbours since time immemorial. They
  built  the Centre to share cultural knowledge in order to inspire unders
 tanding and respect amongst all people. The Centre is renowned for its des
 ign celebrating indigenous culture and sustainability. Completed in 2008\,
  the building is LEED Gold Certified and features and an award-winning ced
 ar structure. It has been recongized for providing an authentic indigenous
  cultural experience and as one of Canada's best diversity employers.It co
