This next sermon series starting Sunday, February 4 th is just 3 weeks long and we’ll be exploring the theme of          “God Delights in Justice.”

From The Message: “If you brag, brag of this and this only: That you understand and know me.  I’m GOD, and I act in loyal love. I do what’s right and set things right and fair,  and delight in those who do the same things. These are my trademarks.”

The banner displayed in the sanctuary throughout this series was made by Myrna Pearce and is titled “Take Action Against Injustice.”  Myrna shares: “During the Civil War in the States, people who wanted to help slaves escape developed what is known as the Underground Railway. Quilts were one of the ways that was used to help pass messages along this secret lifeline. A quilt is a simple thing that any woman of the day could make and this skill was put into action to fight injustice of the worst kind.  The banner inspires each of us to use all of our gifts to help those in need and to always try to take action against injustice however we can.”

Blaise Pascal, born in 1623 in France, who in his lifetime was a mathematician, physicist, religious philosopher and a master of prose shared these words which still ring true these 400 years later, “Justice and power must be brought together, so that whatever is just may be powerful, and whatever is powerful may be just.”
