In his book, the Five Invitations, Frank Ostaseski entitles his epilogue “Dying into Life.”  Death is the ultimate practice of surrender and when we practice surrender well, death arrives on schedule like a friend who has accompanied our life’s journey.  For six Sundays in the season of Lent, we will explore Ostaseski’s book, wondering how we might engage the five invitations into life.

  • Don’t wait
  • Welcome everything, push away nothing
  • Bring your whole self to the experience
  • Find a place of rest in the middle of things
  • Cultivate a don’t know mind.

Over the course of the six weeks, we will take time to form a learning community, discover and share our own learning goals, and then, dive into death’s invitation into life.  We will engage the voices of scriptures, Christian theologians and fellow participants in a rich conversation about the practice of kenosis and transformation.

The Five Invitations is available for purchase on Amazon – for eReaders, hard-cover and soft-cover and audio books when you click here.  Reading the book is not mandatory for these sessions, but Ostaseski’s insights will enrich the experience.
