The First Sunday of Advent

At the center of the reading from Luke for this week is the parable of the fig tree. This parable proclaims the coming of God’s Child, calling us to look out and see the signs, and to be ready. These signs indicate the arrival, the Advent, the presence, and the power of God’s Reign. Like leaves on a fig tree, such signs can teach us about transformation, and the great liberator, Jesus. This is an important part of what we need to be about as children of God's Kin-dom and looking for its signs.
