I just completed reading this book. It has helped me to better understand what went on at one residential school and how it affected the children that were sent to that school. Theodore Fontaine talks of his own suffering and the process of healing that he went through. The book is deeply moving, and the recollections of his past are very detailed and emotional.

This book is now an approved curriculum resource for grade 9–12 students in British Columbia and Manitoba.

Richard Van Camp the author of The Moon of Letting Go was quoted on the back cover of the book saying Theodore Fontaine has written a testimony that should be mandatory reading for everyone out there who has ever wondered,” Why can’t Aboriginal people just get over Residential Schools?”
