MISSION & SERVICE FUND

For many years the United Church of Canada has operated the Mission & Service Fund, supported by donations from members and communities of faith across our country.  For those of you not familiar with the Fund here is a snapshot of what it is and what it does:

  • The M&S Fund is how United Church people join together to share what we can with those who need it most
  • The Goals are to help transform and save lives, to inspire meaning and purpose, and to build a better world.
  • The annual revenue is around $30 million.  Each $100 is allocated as follows:
    • $22 to support local ministries such as First United
    • $19 to community and justice projects including chaplaincies
    • $18 to global Mission & Service with 79 global partners
    • $18 to faith formation such as church camps and intercultural ministries
    • $17 to the National Indigenous Church including The Healing Fund
    • $6 to theological education and vocation of ministry support

We believe that as a church our purpose is to live out God’s mission in the world. In the United Church of Canada, the way we live this out is through our gifts for Mission & Service. When you make M&S giving a regular part of your life of faith, you are living out God’s mission. Lives are changed by M&S.  People are helped at home and abroad when struggling to feed their families or provide them with clean water, the most vulnerable receive medical care and personal protective equipment, counselling is provided to those struggling with addiction or mental health issues, girls in Zambia are encouraged to stay in school and support is provided for economic development, peacemaking, disaster relief and so, so much more.
When you consider your annual donation to Lynn Valley United Church we hope you will consider an additional offering to the work of the wider church through Mission and Service. Additional information can be obtained at:

Single M&S donations can be made directly through the national website or for regular offerings they can be added to your usual church donation by contacting Judith Clark.
