Friday Night Live- but different...

Friday Night Live is a unique way to gather as a community, using the lens of performing arts to engage, inspire, and celebrate the interconnectedness of all. It isn’t church; it’s community inspired through art.

Friday Night Live offers a positive, fun, family-friendly environment that provides an intimate venue for local, emerging, and established artists and was recognized as one of the North Shore’s Best Kept Secrets in the 2013 annual North Shore Outlook “Best Of” Poll!

For the past three years you’ve enjoyed the Friday Night Live stylings of Artistic Director Alan Marriott and his team of improvisors, but for the month of April he is off to England to teach improv. While Alan is away, experience Friday Night Live as you’ve never seen it before. At the helm is Joel Grinke, who has brought together a talented team of writers and performers from around the lower mainland to bring you a new, unique experience: one part Muppet Show, one part Johnny Carson, a dash of dancing, a glimpse of a giant fish and a whole lot of fun. “Every week is going to offer a wide variety of performance styles from acting to puppets to bollywood and everything in between,” says Joel. “And because we're planning a lot of it ahead of time– not all of it mind you– we have some fun recurring pieces and over arcing stories that are going to be very fulfilling for people who decide to come week after week.”

“I'm deeply interested in helping people explore their connection to humanity through the performing arts,” adds Joel. “As a group we are portraying a point of view that is decidedly millennial and I think quite different from what has been experienced so far at Friday night live.”

On April 4 Joel will be joined by North Van’s own Dave Morris: actor, poet, musician and improviser extraordinaire. You can find out more about Dave at or watch his recent TED(x) talk (click to start video)

Tickets are $10 at the door (group and student discounts available in advance from the church office) with kids 12 and under admitted free. Doors open at 7pm for the 7:30pm show
